The empirical likelihood function, introduced by Owen (1988,1990), is a good statistical tool for testing hypotheses and constructing confidence regions in a nonparametric approach. In this paper, we give a formal justification for using this tool to construct confidence intervals when the parameter of interest is the difference between the means of two populations. How to Cite
