Test for interaction in two-way contingency tables

Abstract

This paper makes use of some well-known concepts in regression modelling to define two-factor interaction in the transformed and untransformed two-way contingency tables. Asymptotic chi-square test statistics, each with one d.f., for testing interaction in the table are developed. The asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) of these statistics is studied.
