Abstract

Seneta (1968) gave a sufficient condition for a limiting stationary distribution by allowing immigration in a critical branching process. However, if the emigration is also going on simultaneously, then instability in the population structure is bound to occur. In this paper, the effect: of emigration along with immigration has been considered in a subcritical case. The conditions of equilibrium for the process have been obtained. Furthermore,t he expressions for the variance have been derived.
