Abstract

The statistical intuition of nature is the image of the world suggested by the phenomenologies of heat, radioactivity and quanta. Yet it is even more irreversibly the stochastic and populationistic representation of biological phenomena, which emerge from evolutionary theory, from population genetics. This paper proposes a reappraisal of the lines of thought that have fostered the rise of a new indeterministic interpretation of reality, in the physical and life sciences.
