Incertezza di misura ed incertezza intrinseca del misurando

Abstract

In the paper, the concept of intrinsic measurement uncertainty, which has been recently introduced in an Italian standard, is discussed. Accounting for that aspect, a probabilistic framework is introduced, providing an interpretation of the uncertainty range, usually associated to the measurement results, closer to the concept of probability distribution than to that of confidence interval. Relations between the quoted trend in metrological standards and the statistical approach to measurement errors are also addressed.
