Some utilization of the Beta distribution in statistics

Abstract

The note describes a number of methods for calculating confidence intervals and critical values in hypothesis testing based on the Beta distribution. These methods make use of statistics which may be more understandable to the user than those usually employed. They may also be more convenient when a quick way of obtaining the Beta quintiles is available. Therefore, in the appendix approximate functions are given to calculate the values of some usual distributions with no relevant differences in practical applications.
