A microsimulation model of Dutch tourist behaviour an exploration of Dutch panel data

In this paper the holiday behaviour of the Dutch population is described, using Dutch panel data. Several econometric models have been applied and the results of these models have been compared. A Tobit model with heteroscedasticity has been selected as the best specification, and the results of this specific model have been used to construct a microsimulation model (MSM). The paper shows that microsimulation is a rich instrument to describe the (changes in) participation probability and holiday expenditure of Dutch households.How to Cite
