In the paper, a specific version of the general model with latent variabIes (LISREL) has been applied to demographic data that result from Demographic and Health Survey conducted in Brazil in 1986. The interpretative scheme used in this work has been proposed by Easterlin e Crimmins (1985). Some theories concerning the identification of latent variable indicators, used to study the relation between modernization and fertility, will be discussed. The adaptation of model (LISREL) used to analyse the links between reproductive behavior, contraceptives, economic social and cultural factors, according to the women interviewed, will be emphasized. The model provides for the individualization of links between supply and demand of child, fertility (latent endogenous variables) and female status, informative level, social and economic status, social and cultural condition (latent exogenous variables). How to Cite
